Petrol GO: new app with improved user experience
The Petrol Group has launched the Petrol GO app, which replaces and surpasses the ease of use of its predecessor, the "Na poti" app. The new app is largely the result of internal development and is based on a deep understanding of the needs of Petrol's customers, with the aim of offering an excellent user experience.
In an era where digitalisation is taking a leading role in the business world, the Petrol Group has seized the opportunity to improve its efficiency, accessibility and competitiveness. Apps that improve user experience and build customer loyalty play an important role in this. The history of mobile payments at Petrol, dating back to 2017, shows the growing popularity and functionality of digital payments among users.
"Paying by app has become increasingly popular over the years, as evidenced by the growth in transactions – from 74,000 in 2018 to 892,000 in 2023. Petrol GO is more than just a payment tool; it allows us to adapt to our customers' needs and improve their satisfaction, while optimising our business processes," says Jože Smolič, Member of the Management Board in charge of sales.
Easier shopping in Slovenia and Croatia
The aim of the redesign was to improve the user experience, and Petrol GO has been designed with simplicity and transparency in mind. The new app brings an improved user experience with new features and a refreshed look.
"Petrol GO is the result of careful planning. It is designed with the needs and expectations of the end user – the Petrol customer – in mind. With Petrol GO, we have tried to take into account the wishes of our users as much as possible and to offer them additional functionalities noted in their messages. At the same time, we have set ourselves the challenge of how to integrate additional services into the app in the future, without sacrificing ease of use and transparency. All this to make shopping at our points of sale even easier and faster for our users," explains Andreja Lukež, Head of the Mobile App Channel, and Maruša Vindiš, Project Manager of the redesign project.
The app has already been in use in Croatia, but the launch of Petrol GO marks the first time that the "Order and pick up" function has been enabled, allowing users to order food and products in advance and pick them up on their next visit to the nearest point of sale.
The company's vision is to expand further into the remaining markets where it already operates. By extending the functionality beyond Slovenia's borders, users can use the app for payments and to collect and redeem benefits, depending on the market or country in which they are currently located.
Petrol GO – new name, image, and user experience
Petrol has made the conscious choice to change the name of the app to Petrol GO. Above all, it wanted an international name that could apply to all markets where Petrol operates. At the same time, the renaming has made it easier for users to find the app on their phones and in app stores. Previously, the name of the app did not include the keyword Petrol.
The visual identity of the icon has also been updated and now bears the letter P, the recognisable symbol of the Petrol brand which, together with the choice of name, indicates that the app will not just be for paying for fuel or Coffee to Go without visiting a cash register.
The app not only improves existing features, but also introduces new ones, such as a single entry screen with a central "Scan and Pay" button that allows users to quickly pay for fuel, Coffee to Go, and car washes. The app now automatically detects which service the user wants to pay for.
With the new search engine in the "Order and pick up" section, users can search more easily and quickly among the product categories available at Petrol points of sale. In the "Shop online" section, users can find out more about Petrol’s range of goods and services and about current promotions in the eShop, and find information about upcoming concerts and events all in one place.
Business users who do business with Petrol can also use the app to pay for services. By adding their Petrol Business Payment Card to the app, they can easily make digital payments, with the documentation stored in their transaction history.

The Petrol GO app combines all the benefits of its predecessor, Na poti, and builds on them with an enhanced user experience. It maintains intuitiveness and provides time and money savings for the modern consumer. The development of the app is not yet complete, and new features will be added later this year. "We want to offer a simple mobile app that will also be the first point of entry that customers will think of when they want to do business with Petrol digitally – whether they want to pay for fuel from the comfort of their car, find the nearest point of sale, order a product and have it delivered to the selected point of sale, or check their Petrol electricity bill," Lukež added.
With the promise of future upgrades and new functionalities, the Petrol GO app remains at the heart of the energy future, committed to delivering quality digital solutions that go beyond basic payment functions and become an integral part of users' everyday lives.
