Wastewater treatment
We ensure the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater, and allow its release back into the natural environment. In the process, we lower the load of pollutants in the water, and reduce their impact on the environment.

At Petrol, we are ensuring the economic use of municipal and industrial wastewater, and we provide our partners with comprehensive water treatment solutions. Our focus is on modernizing and optimizing the operation of water treatment plants, and simultaneously optimizing investments and operational costs.
We provide towns within entire concession areas with a legally compliant operation of water treatment plants, while reducing the administrative burden faced by our partners. We are ensuring the optimization of the entire investment, and achieving positive environmental effects. We also take care of the treatment of industrial wastewater, and enable its reuse in recirculation systems. We are committed to efficient and environmentally friendly water use. We also manage our own wastewater treatment. Petrol's service stations that are located outside of settlements, where the construction of sewage systems is not planned, are equipped with small wastewater treatment plants.

Working together to ensure the economic use of wastewater
The Murska Sobota water treatment plant
In 2002, we constructed a water treatment plant in Murska Sobota on the basis of a concession contract. The plant covers 42,000 population units, and features mechanical treatment, biological treatment of carbon and nitrogen compounds, chemical precipitation of phosphorus compounds, and treatment using sand filters and disinfection with UV light, that exceeds requirements. In addition to municipal wastewater, the plant also treats wastewater generated by local industry.
The industrial water treatment plant at the Vevče Paper Mill
The production of paper generates wastewater that must be treated before it is released into the environment. We helped the Vevče Paper Mill with the external management and maintenance of a biological water treatment plant. This enabled the company to simplify the treatment processes, improve their efficiency, and attain lower operational costs. It also ensured savings from the reduced use of chemicals in the cleaning process.
The operation of small water treatment plants at service stations
Current legislation requires the treatment of municipal wastewater at service stations. This is also considered "household water", because it originates in restrooms, kitchens, and so on. Because sales outlets are frequently located in remote areas outside of settlements, where municipalities do not plan to build sewage systems, we address such cases with the construction of small wastewater treatment plants.
