Light pollution
At Petrol, we carefully manage light pollution, i.e. any emission of artificial light into the environment, thereby increasing light levels in the environment.
At Petrol, we prevent and reduce light pollution with several measures. We have renovated street lighting next to all our facilities (service stations, petroleum product storage units). We have installed LED light bulbs in a way that prevents unnecessary lighting of unneeded areas and sky.
Energy consumption for street lighting has thus been reduced by 50 to 80%. Since 2015, we have eliminated lighting of edges of roofs, signboards and pylons with the Petrol logo. We are also deactivating all unnecessary street lighting and lamps in stores when service stations are closed.
